Welcome, Welcome, Bienvenue!
I’m a children’s book author and historian who likes to work and play with many different languages. This is what I’ve been busy with lately:
SLOBBER SLOBBER KISS KISS
Helvetiq, Autumn 2019: A story about kisses – soft and gentle, slobbery and loud, wanted and unwanted – and what to do about them. This story was the subject of an international illustration competition with publisher Helvetiq. The winner was announced at Bologna Book Fair 2019, where Switzerland was the guest of honour. (oh, and Helvetiq has just been nominated for Switzerland’s publisher of the year 2019…)
…and the winner is….Kasia Fryza from Poland!
Cambridge Thinking Press, 27th April 2019: The first in a series of four Forest Tools books to teach the safe use of tools to pre-school and KS1 in a Forest School setting; in collaboration with Cambridge Forest Schools. Illustrated by Tennie Videler.
ZANNA ET LE TRUCMUCHE / ZANNA AND THE SOMETHING/ ZANNA UND DER DINGSBUMS
éditions uTopie, 25th May 2019: Zanna has double trouble: her parents won’t stop arguing, and a big fat invisible Something is wreaking havoc in her house. Illustrated by the wonderful Karin Eklund
THE RED HOT FIREBALL/ ZAY BOULE-DE-FEU (FR/EN bilingual)
uTopie, 2017: One day, Zay gets so angry with her little brother that she turns into….a red, hot fireball! Illustrated by Clément Espinoza
VIVA GENEVA!/ VOICI GENÈVE! – Stories from Geneva’s History
Due out in spring 2020: A book full of crazy real stories from Geneva’s history, as told by Allo the Allobrogian – the original Genevan buried underneath Geneva Cathedral, and his know-it-all horse. Illustrated by the fabulous Pierre Wazem.
Bookings for interactive and/or bilingual school visits now being taken.
